Anchor Steam Christmas Ale

For my third of the 50 beers to try before you die, I had Anchor Steam Christmas Ale.  A bit out of season, but really, even in December this beer would be just mediocre.

It has some secret recipe of Christmas herbs and spices, which change from year to year.  I think Anchor Steam is still working out their recipe, or maybe they just don’t care, knowing that some people will buy a seasonal beer just to try something different.

If I didn’t know what I was drinking, I probably couldn’t have identified it as a Christmas themed drink.  Of course, I don’t have a particularly refined palette, but I can recognize a pumpkin ale.  Maybe if you’re more on the beer connoisseur rather than beeroholic end there might be something in there for you.  But, for the average Joe, I’d only recommend picking this up if you need something to bring to a friend’s holiday party.

That stuff is pig piss. It also is expensive. I don’t want to pay more then $2 for any bottle or draft at a bar.
