Nine Ways to Not Screw Up Your Summer

Jog over to Bitter Lawyer this morning and check out their 9 Summer Associate Don’ts.  They may seem like no-brainers, but sometimes this stuff just really needs to be said.

I’ve broken 1-5 and 7.  How about you?

Which of these summer associate rules have you broken?

I have never breeched any of these. But I also never worked yet as a summer associate at a firm. My experience has been in a US Government agency’s legal department, where we are expected to maintain decorum.

But even if I worked in a firm, I would never sleep with anyone at work anyway. That is gross, because you have to see them the next day with their clothes on. And there would be some kind of conflict of interest. How could a man be mean to me after I agreed to do what I did the night before?

I’m usually more mean after having slept with someone.

In fact, sexual harassment law makes it easier to be mean to someone you’ve had sex with. If you’re mean to her and she cries sexual harassment, you get the “bad breakup” defense.

    Not making this up.

As a JD looking for a good job, I want to state that if I were to be hired as an associate, I would not be a party girl. No one would take me seriusly. Better to be sober then drunk, too. No long term benefit for being the party girl. I would leave that at college, girls.
