Blind Drunk Justice Episode 5

This didn’t make it into the final version of the show (if you want to hear the full copy, piss off, you can’t have it), but we debated which is worse, paying income tax or not being able to get alcohol, and here’s a nifty little poll for your to half-heartedly voice your opinion.

The 16th Amendment gave Congress the power to levy an income tax.

The 18th Amendment prohibited the manufacture and sale of alcohol.

    How is this even a question. If we’re going to have a government, it will need to provide stuff like roads and helicopters and money for old people. “Taxes are the price you pay to live in a civilized society.” Oliver Wendle Holmes.

    Prohibition was basically miracle grow for organized crime and ignored the inherent truth that unenforceable laws are worse than no laws at all.

    There actually was like 10 minutes on 19th Amendment, but I edit with a pretty heavy hand when hungover.
